Sightseeing Tours

Special tours have been arranged exclusively for the Delegates and Accompanying persons. Tours will leave from the Park Inn Hotel Krakow. Booking in advance is recommended, on-site availability cannot be guaranteed.

The deadline for application is September 1, 2012. Meeting Secretariat reserves the right to cancel the tour for which a minimum number of participants have not registered. In this case another tour will be offered or a refund will be paid after the meeting.

Auschwitz-Birkenau, the largest concentration and extermination camp built by the Nazis during World War II, became the world known symbol of the Holocaust and Nazi crime. In Auschwitz we see the exhibition about the extermination, the evidence of crime, the gas chamber and the crematorium. In Birkenau we see the Gate of Death, unloading ramp, the wooden barracks. Duration: approx. 7 h.

The Berlin Wall may have fallen, the Iron Curtain cracked, but many of Communism's most famous legacies are alive and well in Krakow. Visit the district of Nowa Huta, "Stalin's gift to Krakow", and discover a centrally-planned Socialist city, complete with steel works and tenement houses built in the Renaissance style of the Soviets. This unique district was meant to be a model communist city, but later came to be one of the centers of revolution and resistance within Poland, leading to the eventual overthrow of the Communist government.
